Improving Community Resilience and Emergency Plans by Mapping Risk and Preparedness at the Neighborhood Scale

People living in areas of significant seismic risk seldom undertake sufficient preparations to safeguard their families. This is most problematic remote communities such as those along the Dead Sea Fault, Israel, where self-reliance a key factor coping with disasters. To facilitate individual and familial involvement earthquake preparedness areas, we designed tool for self-assessment preparedness. The personalized assessment based on national hazard building standards, personal input regarding structure characteristics. evaluations enhance awareness provide immediate feedback help users improve spatial analysis data collected used form high-resolution maps that expose specific challenges emergency responses.
